Here in Crystal River, Florida is Kings Bay, the "Manatee Capital" of the world. We have the largest natural aggregation of manatees during the cold season and a residential population of manatee year-round. Our location is the only place in the world that allows you to legally and purposefully come face to face with the gentle manatee in their own environment. This unique privilege is a completely wild encounter in Florida's natural environment - every experience will be different. Are you ready to join one of our adventures?
The Floridian West Indian Manatee call this area home year-round, where you can come watch them eat, sleep, and play in some of Florida's most beautiful natural waterways. Float on the surface of the water, paddle among water fowl and fish, or sit back and relax on one of our Coast Guard Inspected Vessels for a narrated sight-seeing tour. No matter what you choose, our extremely knowledgeable staff is dedicated to giving you a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Breaking new records every year during the winter season, Crystal River boasts the largest population of manatee during the coldest months of the year when hundreds of manatee are drawn to the natural 72°F/22°C springs to stay warm and healthy. From November to March, depending on the weather conditions, migratory manatees make their way into our area and people travel from all over the world to visit King's Bay and our world-renowned freshwater springs.
Dreaming of a snorkel with the manatee? Our captains and guides are experts in the area and specialize in what it takes to to get you in the water with the Florida Manatee. Passively observe them in their own environment and on their terms. Kings Bay happens to be home of the one and only area where guided swimming tours are endorsed and allowed by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). We educate guided swimmers into the water with the manatee - with the proper knowledge and understanding needed to make this a pleasant encounter for both you and for them!
Our team of captains and guides are passionate about the manatees and the ecosystems that support them. We are thrilled to share them with you! Florida manatees are not fed or trained, but instead behave naturally and approach snorkelers on their own terms. Our custom USCG inspected vessels carry up to 12 snorkelers at a time, and our shop will provide you the necessary gear required for your tour..
Your snorkel experience begins with a short, informative briefing at our shop from the crew. This will cover current manatee activity in the area and the proper way to conduct yourself in the water to passively observe manatees up close and personal. Then, cast off into the heart of manatee country. To optimize your manatee experience, we start with a practice swim which provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with your gear and to perfect your "manatee float" techniques before approaching these gentle giants!

We'll provide all your gear, your license, and help you clean them before you leave. Every boat carries a max of 6 people, and each person aims to take home their limit - approximately 2 gallons each! We look forward to seeing you, don't miss out!
